The Moody Blues | Knights In White Satin

This song gives me girly boners.

That is all.

"Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie

David Bowie | Moonage Daydream

Ziggy Stardust is one of my all-time favourite albums. Trying to pick just one song from it was pretty hard, but I do adore this one. I love the whole 60’s/70’s sci-fi aspect of it, I wonder what David Bowie thought the future would be like haha. Anyways, rad song, rad album!

"Ann Disaster" by Ben Kweller

Ben Kweller | Ann Disaster

Ben Kweller’s always been one to go his own way, and I’ve always really enjoyed his 2004 album On My Way. I really like his rockier side and love the simplicity, rawness and swagger of this song. This is a real rock ‘n roll soul song. This song says what it needs to say, kicks down the door, then leaves without looking back.

"Outtathaway" by The Vines

The Vines | Outtathatway

The other night I was up watching Rage’s 25th Anniversary show, when Outtathaway by The Vines came on, and I felt 13 again.

Highly Evolved by The Vines was the first Rock album that I bought, which really catapulted me into the music that I listen to today. When I discovered them, I was totally blown away and Outtathaway was one of the first songs I learnt to play on guitar. I was a teenager trying to find my place in the world, and I was so proud to have pictures of The Vines on my school books, and to convince my friends that they HAD to listen to them. Even though The Vines aren’t really what they were anymore, and even though I only saw them for the first time at the 2011 Sydney Big Day Out, I owe a lot to them, and Highly Evolved holds a special place my music collection.

Jack White | Sixteen Saltines

I’ve been a fan of pretty much everything Jack White has ever done, and this is no exception. I’m just surprised it’s taken him this long to go solo! I can see myself getting drunk and dancing to this in the near future!

"Era Vulgaris" by Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens Of The Stone Age | Era Vulgaris

I’ve been a fan of QOTSA for quite a while. The other day I was catching the bus to work listening to music on shuffle, and this song came on. I dunno what else to say but fucking awesome. It’s got a great tempo, and it kind of dangerous, sexy and provocative. I just really love their sound in its entirety. I’ve got a lot of respect for this band.

"Get Found" by Bass Drum Of Death

Bass Drum Of Death | Get Found

Bass Drum of Death’s album GB City has been on repeat for me for almost a year now, and, to make it even better, my band are supporting them when they play in Sydney next week!! So very exciting, and to show my excitement, and anticipation of this gig, and finally getting to see these guys live, I’m posting this awesome song.

Listen. Just do it.

"Rock N Roll Nigger" by Patti Smith Group

Patti Smith Group | Rock N Roll Nigger

So continues my current love affair with Patti Smith. This song kick SO MUCH ASS. This is why I love rock n roll. This song makes me feel like dancing around the house, screaming and drinking until I fall over and break something including myself. I absolutely love listening to this album, especially with the monologue track ‘Babelogue’ leading into it. It just screams and growls power, art and revolution. God damn this makes me want a rock n roll renaissance.

Mercy Arms | Kept Low

Mercy Arms were a band from Sydney, Australia. I absolutely adored Mercy Arms. I saw them play a fair bit when I really got into seeing live music in Sydney in 2008. I was so sad when I learnt that they disbanded in 2009. In my many semi-drunken recollections of seeing them, they had such potential and were a great live band. At this point of time I was finding my feet in a new city, and making friends in the scene I wanted to be in, and their music was inspiring to me as an art student/shy aspiring musician. They rocked out, but still hit the nerves with me, and had a great sound.

"The Malkin Jewel" by The Mars Volta

The Mars Volta | The Malkin Jewel

If you know me, then you’ll know that The Mars Volta are one of my favourite bands, and that I happen to have a bit of a lady boner for Cedric Bixlar-Zivala ;) However, despite that, their music is just awesome. This is from their upcoming album Nocturniquet, and I loved it as soon I heard the 30 second snippet that was uploaded. Then, I heard the rest of the song, dear god.

Just do yourself a favour and listen to it ;)
